Projects
I write most of my code at work. Here's a sample of projects, personal and not, open to the public.
- den frie prøvebank Aug, 2025 - NowDen Frie Prøvebank, or "The Free Test Bank," is an archive of free, AI-generated practice exams for those learning Danish as a second language. I made it for myself — I needed the tests — then built a site on which to share them.
- react native creative Jan, 2025 - NowReact Native Creative is an occasional attempt at "Learning in Public": I'm not an expert, but keen to learn the libraries and core functionality that bring life to React Native apps — and share what I find, on this YouTube channel.
- lego play Jul, 2024 - NowLEGO Play is an app I've taken to pitching as "a creative Swiss army knife for kids". Among other things, it's LEGO's attempt to make screen-time more meaningful than "just another video" — to make kids creators, not just consumers, of culture. My team's focus is on its creative tools, like the Stop Motion Studio and Doodle drawing tool.
- lego kids streaming experience Jul, 2023 - Jun, 2024My first project at LEGO was to build a video-streaming experience for kids, promoting the company's TV shows, short clips, “Masterclass” building challenges and promotional videos.
- crayon design system Jul, 2023 - Jun, 2024While working on the video-streaming experience on LEGO's Kids website, I was a regular contributor to the implementation of its “Crayon” design system. A breath of fresh air (and fun), compared with the ironed-shirt seriousness of Saxo Bank's system, “Crayon” was also a chance to see a design system from the perspective of a consumer and external contributor.
- saxo bank design system May, 2022 - Jun, 2023In my brief stint at Saxo Bank, I worked on the Platform UI team, contributing to the extensive design system that defines the company's apps and trading platforms. Working in a sprawling monorepo with no shortage of legacy quirks, the role was challenging, but taught me alot about React, the web platform, building tools for other developers, communicating changes, handling migrations and working with designers to bring their work to life.
- silkscreen design system Jan, 2021 - May, 2023At Issuu, my team laid the foundations of its new Silkscreen design system. Working closely with designers and the more senior engineers in my team, I learnt a lot about web APIs, accessibility, React, building good tools and negotiating their development with stakeholders across disciplines and product teams.
- invisible crime: are we failing victims of sexual violence? Sep, 2019A data-driven investigation into sexual violence in Australia built for The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald. For designing the piece and implementing its data visualisations, I won “Gold” at the Information is Beautiful Awards, among other things.
